Flint and Bachert named All-WNYAC

Alfred State College sophomore softball players Sarah Flint (Westmoreland) and Bridgett Bachert (Horseheads) were named All-WNYAC second team.  Flint and Bachert helped ASC to a 10-28 record in Coach Michael Caba's first season at the helm of the program.

Sarah FlintAlfred State College sophomore softball players Sarah Flint (Westmoreland) and Bridgett Bachert (Horseheads) were named All-WNYAC second team.  Flint and Bachert helped ASC to a 10-28 record in Coach Michael Caba's first season at the helm of the program.

Flint played in all 37 games this season playing first base and pitching.  She finished with a .255 (24 for 94) batting average.  She connected on ten doubles, three triples, and drove home a team high 21 runs.  She scored 18 runs, had a slugging percentage of .426 and an on-base percentage of .352.  On the mound, Flint pitched 92 innings and struck out 76 batters.

Bachert SwingsBachert led the team with a .365 (35 for 96) batting average.  She started every game, primarily at shortstop, and finished with six doubles, two triples, the team's lone home run and 14 RBI.  She scored 23 runs and stole six bases.  She finished the campaign with a .500 slugging percentage and a .430 on-base percentage.

This is the second year in a row that two members of the softball team have been honored by the Western New York Athletic Conference.  The Lady Pioneers finished 3-9 in conference play.
