Klesa, Sattler, and Silva honored with faculty advising awards

A trio of employees were recognized for their work as advisors to students at Alfred State
Amanda Silva, Kylan Sattler, and James Klesa were recently honored with the Alfred State Excellence in Faculty Advising Awards. Students nominated advisors that have gone above and beyond.

James Klesa, Kylan Sattler, and Amanda Silva were honored with Excellence in Faculty Advising Awards. Alfred State Vice President for Academic Affairs Carrie Cokely presented the trio with a glass star to commemorate the honor.

The Excellence in Faculty Advising Award recognizes faculty advisors who have gone above and beyond to positively impact a student’s college experience.  Students nominate the honorees and a professor from each of the college’s three schools is selected. 

Klesa, an instructor in the Electrical Machine Tool and Welding Technology Program. is credited by his students for caring deeply about his classes and for connecting with his students, for going out of his way to understand his students and how to teach them to be successful in the field, and for creating special bonds with his students.

Sattler, an assistant professor in the Digital Media and Animation Department, is credited for bringing light to the rooms he is in, for having a positive attitude towards his students, and for making an impact in and out of the classroom.

Silva, an associate professor in the Social Behavioral Sciences Department, is credited for being positive, available to assist with classwork, clubs, answering questions, and for making registering for classes easy. Her knowledge about the classes and suggestions of classes spread excitement to others.
