Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. continues to support student scholarships

The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. continues to provide scholarship assistance to Alfred State students. Scholarship assistance is just one of the ways the Foundation supports Alfred State and their students.

For the 2025-26 academic year, the Educational Foundation provided $175,000 to support students financially through scholarship awards. This assistance impacts over 136 Alfred State students. Students either earned an Alfred State Pioneer Award, a Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, a Transfer Scholarship, or a Vocational Excellence Award. Scholarships ranged from $1,000 to $2,500.

Junior mechatronics technology major Nehemiah Abelard-Johnson has benefited from a scholarship he received. “Alfred State provided a scholarship that made college more affordable for me and my family. It was a larger scholarship than I received from any of the other schools I looked at.”

“Alfred State is a small tight-knit community where you're able to interact with people daily,” continued Abelard-Johnson. “Everybody's friendly and they're willing to teach and help you learn more and prepare you for the future

The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. is a private foundation dedicated to improving the college community through the support of educational programs. A board of directors made up of representatives from alumni, faculty and staff, and friends of the college govern the activities pursued by the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc.

The Ed Foundation supports learning opportunities for students through scholarships, peer tutoring, and community service projects. The Ed Foundation also funds the Building Trades home construction project.

The Foundation owns and maintains the School of Applied Technology campus in Wellsville. The campus is recognized as one of the best applied technology schools in the nation.
