The Alfred State College track & field team competed versus three NCAA schools and three NJCAA schools at the Ithaca Open.

Numerous Pioneers came home with 3rd place finishes.  Nathan Smith (Clymer) finished 3rd in the hammer throw (41.16 m), Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) finished 3rd in the 1,500 (4:09.66), Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) was 3rd in the discus (36.04 m), Jason Cady (Dundee) was 3rd in the shot put (10.88 m), and Alex Curran (Williamson) was 3rd in the pole vault (4.05 m).

Broncho Rollins (Ithaca) finished 4th in both the discus (33.94) and the javelin (39.78) while Alvin Flemming (Eastridge) was 5th in the 100 (11.16).  Mike Kaplan (Tri Valley) earned a 7th place finish in the 800 (2:05.16).

On the women's side, Callie Ayers (Letchworth) finished 5th in the 400 (1:04.18) while Jen Chan (Genesee Valley) was 7th in the 1,500 (5:43.71).

Some Pioneers will travel to the University of Rochester on Wednesday to compete.  Action is set to begin at 3 p.m.
