Business Minor

The Business Department offers a minor in Business to students who wish to develop business skills and knowledge yet major in another discipline. This minor degree is available to any bachelor degree seeking student who is completing a degree outside of the Business Department.

Learning Outcomes

• Evaluate data and information using critical thinking and decision-making skills to devise solutions for common business problems.
• Apply basic accounting methods and accounting software to analyze financial data and provide ethical guidance.
• Apply the major theories and principles of ethics and law to the modern business environment.
• Identify and apply major theories of effective marketing.
• Demonstrate the use of major economic theories to analyze business problems and devise solutions.
• Analyze business environments using the strategic management process in order to identify and forecast trends and suggest preferred courses of action.
• Analyze complex business issues and effectively communicate findings through written and oral communication methods.

Declaration Requirements

• Minimum of 30 hours completed with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• The minor must be completed with an overall GPA of 2.5 in all courses taken at Alfred State College. For complete details, please see the College Catalag or contact the Business Department: chair at 607-587-3413.
• The minor must be completed with at least six (6) credit hours of upper-level credits.
