Homecoming Family Weekend is quickly approaching. Return to Alfred State, Sept. 24-27 to enjoy a weekend full of activities.

Homecoming Family Weekend activities return to Alfred State in just a couple of weeks. Excitement is growing for the annual celebration that will take place September 24-27.

“We can’t wait to welcome Pioneers, families, alumni, and friends back to campus for an exciting Homecoming Family Weekend,” commented committee co-chair Sarah Francisco. “We hope to take advantage of the fall weather with outdoor activities on both Friday and Saturday. The schedule features many of traditional events mixed in with some new events.”

Homecoming activities will begin on Thursday with the annual Blue & Gold Dinner* (4:30 – 8 PM) in the Terrace. Evening activities include the volleyball team taking on Houghton University at 7 PM followed by a Dodgeball tournament in the Orvis Gymnasium.

Friday night will feature a new twist to a past favorite. On the Block* will run from 5:30 - 7:30 PM in the Pioneer Stadium parking lot. It will feature a DJ, food, activities, and a bonfire. The annual Alfred’s Got Talent event will be held starting at 8 PM in the Cappadonia Auditorium.

Events on Saturday kick off with the annual Carly 5K Color Run (register) benefiting the Courage for Carly Fund. The run/walk will start at Ground Floor of the Student Leadership Center at 9 AM on Saturday. Opening serve of the alumni volleyball game will start at 11 AM in the Orvis Gymnasium.

Tailgate lots will open at 10 AM outside of Pioneer Stadium. The annual Car Show (register your car) and Basket Raffle will begin at 11 AM while the Brunch Tailgate* will run from 11 AM – 1 PM. The Dirt Turtles will take the stage outside Pioneer Stadium and play until kickoff between Alfred State and Utica University at 1 PM. Admission to the game is free courtesy of AIMS Self Storage and at the game, fans over 21 can enjoy the End Zone Party. 

Alfred State baseball alumni will gather for batting practice and their annual alumni game starting at 2 PM while a Pickleball Tournament is set to begin at 4 PM on the multi-purpose courts.

Family Feud returns to MacKenzie Commons at 4:30 PM while the round Bingo will be played throughout the Homecoming Family Dinner at the Terrace* from 4:30 – 8 PM. 

Opening face-off of the lacrosse alumni game is at 5 PM at Pioneer Stadium to cap outdoor events. A late-night movie will be show in the Student Leadership Center Small Event Space starting at 9 PM.

Once again, Homecoming visitors can sign up for a VIP Experience. The exclusive opportunity includes a special gift, reserved parking, dedicated seating, and a ticket to the Tailgate Barbecue.

The baseball reunion weekend concludes with a golf tournament at Twin Hickory Golf Course starting at 10 AM on Sunday (register).

Weekend activities on campus close out on Sunday with a family brunch* at the Central Dining Hall from 11 AM to 2:30 PM. Visitors are also encouraged and welcome to check out the Alfred Farmer’s Market located at the bandstand downtown from 11 AM – 3 PM.

Francisco added, “The countdown for the big weekend is underway. We are excited to create memories for our current students, their families, and our alumni.”
