Drawn to electronics from an early age, Eve Razzano (Freeport, NY) developed a passion for technology after helping her father build a computer when she was just five years old. She chose Alfred State's Electrical Engineering Technology program because of its unique semiconductor program and state-of-the-art clean room facilities.
"I've always been fascinated by electronics and wanted to understand how they work. Alfred State gave me the opportunity to learn the theory behind it and then apply it through hands-on experiences."
Throughout the program, Eve has combined classroom learning with extensive laboratory work. Her experiences have included manufacturing silicon chips, building robots, creating function generators, and working directly with semiconductor technology.
“The semiconductor clean room was the reason I chose Alfred State. Being able to build microchips ourselves is an experience that very few students get."
One of Eve’s most rewarding experiences has been her senior project, a firefighting robot designed to navigate a maze and extinguish fires. The project combined analog power systems, digital electronics, and programming, allowing her to apply knowledge gained throughout her coursework.
Outside the classroom, Razzano serves as an embedded tutor for circuit theory and works in the math lab while pursuing a minor in mathematics. These experiences helped her discover a passion for teaching and inspired her career goal of becoming a professor.
"I love teaching engineering and math. Working with other students has helped me realize that's what I want to do with my future."
Eve values the close relationships she has developed with faculty members. "The professors are incredibly supportive. They're easy to reach, they know who you are, and they genuinely want to help you succeed."
After earning an associate degree, she found the transfer process to Alfred State to be straightforward and stress-free. Working closely with advisers allowed her to develop a clear graduation plan and transition seamlessly into the program. Scholarships further helped make her education affordable.
Alfred State helped Eve develop her passion for electrical engineering, and she can't wait to share that passion with others.
