An affordable path to a professional degree that provided the technical skills needed for a successful career led Selena Fullone (Webster, NY) to Alfred State's five-year Bachelor of Architecture program.

Growing up in a family construction business, Selena developed an appreciation for the building industry at an early age. While working alongside her father and grandfather on job sites, she discovered that her passion wasn't constructing buildings, it was designing them.
Bringing ideas to life through Alfred State’s project-based curriculum combining classroom instruction with model building, laser cutting, 3D printing, site visits, and design studios.

Studying abroad in Sorrento, Italy, where she completed architecture coursework while exploring some of the world's most iconic architectural landmarks added to her experiences and knowledge base.
Selena credits her professors, many of whom are licensed architects, with helping her develop industry-ready skills, secure internships, and ultimately accept a full-time position before graduation.
"They taught me the technical skills firms are looking for, and they were always willing to help with recommendations and career advice."
Outside the classroom, Fullone is active in Women in Architecture and Design (WIAD), helping encourage and support women pursuing careers in the profession. She has also represented Alfred State in national competitions, including helping her team earn third place in the Design-Build Institute of America National Student Competition.
Looking back on her experience, Fullone believes Alfred State's hands-on curriculum, real-world opportunities, and supportive faculty have given her the confidence to begin her career as an architect.
Alfred State has helped Selena build on her foundation, and she can't wait to design her future.
