Students living in Main Gate A have a renovated lounge to relax, eat, exercise, or just hang out with friends in. The Ready Player One Lounge was recently opened, and students have already started to enjoy the new features of the space.

The Ready Player One Lounge features two custom media spaces, a reimagined kitchen, a hotel style fitness center, a renovated recycling room, a pool table, and retro video games. The space also has new lighting, flooring, and furniture.

“When we started the project, the goal was to support connection and engagement while providing a space to cook meals together and a space for wellness and fitness,” stated Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs Spencer Peavey. “With the vision and help of so many we were able to create a lounge that accomplishes all these goals in a visually cool space.”

“I am excited for my residents to use this new space,” commented Main Gate A Resident Director Bridget Donnelly. “We are planning all sorts of events that will bring students together in this great space.”

Peavey continued, “So many people came together to make this space a reality. It really took a team effort, which included so many individuals that work in the trades, grounds, and custodial. These individuals brought the ideas tossed around in residential life meetings to life. I could not be prouder of how it turned out.”

The college plans to renovate and reimagine lounges in residential halls across campus in the future.
