“I chose Alfred State because it is one of the few colleges in New York that has the game program. I really wanted to learn to interact more with it. I wanted to learn to make something that can also bring people together like how it brought me together with a lot of people.”
Learning the process of game design has excited Miranda. “I like the intricacy of the design of games. I love learning how it's made and being involved in the process. I also enjoy things that are difficult and that take a big team to make.”
The design of classes in her major fits her learning style. “My favorite part is the freedom you get with your projects. There are rarely any constraints on what you must do. You will get lectures and learn how to do thing and take notes, but there's a point where you have so much freedom to work.”
Miranda has gained knowledge from her professors that have come from the industry. “My game professor has worked on games before. He has worked in big industries and companies, and he knows what the market is like. We are taught about what the market is like, what the hiring process is like, and how can you climb the ranks.”
Alfred State has put Miranda’s dreams of game design into motion.
