Six graduate from Peace Officer Academy

The Alfred State Police Academy celebrated the graduation of six Peace Officers at a ceremony held recently. The group included Wendy Clemons, Nicholas Gudyka, Thomas Sellers, Jr., Janet St. George, Dominic Lucarelli, and Cody Schneider.

A peace officer enforces laws and ordinances. They may also investigate crimes. They can make arrests, conduct investigations, issue citations for traffic violations, and respond to emergency calls such as domestic violence incidents or fires.

Bingham and Paulsen sworn in as University Police Officers

Dates set for 2025 Alfred State Police Academy

The Alfred State Police Academy will welcome their seventh class in May. The academy offers both Police Officer and Peace Officer training.

The Alfred State Police Academy serves as a regional training center to offer high quality training to current and future law enforcement professionals. The Academy directly benefits the Western New York region and provides police departments in Allegany and neighboring counties with high-quality law enforcement training opportunities.

The Alfred State Police Academy honored the sixth class of graduates at a ceremony held at Lake Lodge. The class featured fourteen graduates from both phases of the Police Academy and four graduates of Phase I.

Alfred State Police Academy graduate honored at Buffalo Bills game

Nadjadi earned the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United State Army prior to his retirement. He is currently a deputy in the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.

Alfred State Police Academy graduate Brent Nadjadi, ’21, was recognized for his military service at the Buffalo Bills game versus the Dallas Cowboys.

Nadjadi earned the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United State Army prior to his retirement. He is currently a deputy in the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.

The Alfred State Police Academy was established in 2018 and serves as a regional training center to offer high-quality training to current and future law enforcement professionals. The sixth session of the Academy will begin in May 2024.

Peace Officer training added to Alfred State Police Academy

“Adding the Peace Officer training course was a natural fit after the passing of legislation that required probation officers to be certified. There is a demand for this type of training, and we are happy to provide it.”

For the first time, the Alfred State Police Academy will offer the Division of Criminal Justice Services Basic Course for Peace Officer. The 179-hour course will begin on May 15, 2023.
