Meet the Students - Gianna Gotte

“My professors are student oriented. They make you very comfortable asking questions. They go above and beyond to help you and make sure you understand things.  I have never felt like I couldn’t go to my professor for something.”

After earning general education credits at a college closer to home, Gianna Gotte (Whitesboro, NY) found the perfect match with the diagnostic medical sonography program at Alfred State. 

Gianna is part of a family that works in healthcare and was searching for an ultrasound program. “I want to help people and be a difference in their experience in health care. I know it can be scary for a patient. I also like talking to people and learning their stories.”

Jenna Zetwick receives Alfred State Student Advocate Award

“She is such a positive teacher that keeps our entire class going especially on the harder, more overwhelming days. She is like a mother and is our biggest supporter getting through this challenging program.”

Alfred State College (ASC) recognized Jenna Zetwick, assistant professor in the Allied Health Department, as the recipient of the Student Advocate Award. 

Presented to a college employee who has made a profound impact on students. Each fall, a student advocate is honored from nominations of just first-year students.

Meet the Students - Chelsea Whitesell

“It is a small tight-knit class. We all know each other, and we all have bonded not only over the degree but our own personal experiences. We go through the difficult times together and celebrate the positive times.”

Chelsea came back to Alfred State after deciding to change career paths. After working as a veterinary technician, she was looking for a new challenge.

“I previously graduated from Alfred State and earned a degree in veterinary technology. I have always loved the imaging field so I decided to come back for ultrasound."

Alfred State College (ASC) hosted a forum that focused on enhancing the local healthcare workforce. Administrators from three local hospitals, St. James, Noyes, and Jones Memorial, along with Elderwood learned more about the educational opportunities available at the college.

Alfred State offers computed tomography and MRI certificate programs

Alfred State College is excited to announce the addition of two new certificate programs in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), both of which are designed to help working imaging professionals advance their careers and skills sets. 

Alfred State College is excited to announce the addition of two new certificate programs in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), both of which are designed to help working imaging professionals advance their careers and skills sets. 

The new MRI program is set to launch in the spring of 2022, while the CT program is slated to launch in fall 2022.
