Canfield earns silver medal at SkillsUSA National Championships – Four Pioneers place in top ten

Alfred State College (ASC) sent a group of eleven (seven students and four faculty/administrators) to the 2022 SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta, GA. Devon Canfield (Buffalo) led the way by earning a silver medal in the automotive service technology competition.

Masonry alum Brennon Zenoski named Craftsman of the Year

Alfred State College masonry alum Brennon Zenoski ’13 has been named a Rochester Builders Exchange Craftsman of the Year.

Alfred State College masonry alum Brennon Zenoski ’13 has been named a Rochester Builders Exchange Craftsman of the Year.

Zenoski was one six honorees to be honored for their expertise and leadership in their trade. Specifically, Zenoski was honored for his masonry work on the Western NY National Cemetery Phase 1. Zenoski currently works for Manning Squires Hennig Co. Inc.

The 2021 SkillsUSA New York State Leadership and Skills Conference Postsecondary Championship was held on the Wellsville campus.

The 2021 SkillsUSA New York State Leadership and Skills Conference Postsecondary Championship was held on Alfred State’s Wellsville campus on Saturday, April 2. 32 students from two schools, Alfred State and the Culinary Institute of America, competed against each other in one of the nation’s most prestigious showcases of career and technical aptitude.

Masonry students at Alfred State College are helping rebuild the foundation of one Knoxville man’s home impacted by the historic flooding in the Twin Tiers.

John Zuck, a homeowner in Knoxville, felt the brunt of the storm on August 18th.

The storm wiped out the foundation to his home, but he had trouble finding a contractor. Masonry students at Alfred State College are now helping Zuck through the Mennonite Disaster Service. They are not only gaining field experience, but also helping the local community.

Appalachian Regional Commission awards Alfred State $150,000 for HVAC program

Alfred State College (ASC) is pleased to announce that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has approved a grant in the amount of $150,000 to the Research Foundation of SUNY and ASC for Workforce Development Through Refrigeration Training Enhancements.

Located at 3889 Foundation Drive, the newest house built by Alfred State students is now finished and has already been sold. The 2,010-square-foot open concept home features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large master suite, a two-car garage, a full basement, and a wraparound porch.

This year, Alfred State College (ASC) alumnus Bill Hayes is celebrating his 30th year in business and the 55th anniversary of the founding of his company, Turnbull Heating and Air Conditioning.

This year, Alfred State College (ASC) alumnus Bill Hayes is celebrating his 30th year in business and the 55th anniversary of the founding of his company, Turnbull Heating and Air Conditioning.

Hayes is a 1982 graduate of Alfred State’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) program, and his wife, Jo Ann, is also an ASC alum, having graduated from the school’s executive secretarial science program.

Alfred State receives $50,000 grant from National Fuel Gas Company Foundation

This grant will benefit ASC’s heavy equipment operations program, as well as the college’s Doc Bruce Fundraising Campaign that aims to bolster the construction management program.

Alfred State College (ASC) is pleased to announce that it has received a $50,000 grant from the National Fuel Gas Company Foundation. This grant will benefit ASC’s heavy equipment operations program, as well as the college’s Doc Bruce Fundraising Campaign that aims to bolster the construction management program.

The grant is divided into two years, with $25,000 being used in the first year to acquire through lease new models of an excavator and a backhoe that will provide heavy equipment operations students with tools they’ll use on the job.

A group of P-TECH BEGREEN Building Trades students at Alfred State College (ASC) were recently highlighted in a Buffalo City School District department newsletter.

In the publication, the Career and Technical Education Department mentions that these students have moved in to begin a new semester at ASC after graduating from high school.
