Alfred State plants over 130 trees and shrubs on campus

“44 new trees are near the college’s main entrance as a new retention pond that aids water runoff is now transformed with a new park surrounding it. The rest of the trees and shrubs are concentrated on Lower College Drive. They are all native species ranging from oaks to maples.”

Alfred State surges ahead in energy efficiency

Through evaluating building-by-building benchmarks, the college as a whole performed very well in the Preliminary Energy Analysis report which was not weather-normalized. According to the analysis, out of seven similar-sized SUNY campuses, Alfred State’s energy consumption is noticeably lower than five of them, and ties results for first place.

Alfred State Expands its Renewable Energy Portfolio with New Wind Turbine

The newest member of Alfred State’s growing renewable energy family is currently catching the breeze above campus—a 100 kilowatt grid-tied wind turbine that will offset some of the college’s electricity usage. The turbine came online just a few weeks ago and is already producing clean, green energy.
