My name is Rebecca Randall. I’m from Prattsburg, New York, and my major is Veterinary Technology.
I chose the Albert State Vet Tech program over programs at other colleges because of just how hands-on this program is. From the very first week, you’re working with animals and you’re working with models. When I came and met the professors, I just knew that this is where I wanted to be because they really care.
We have the third-best Veterinary Technology program in the country, and not very many places that are close to home can say that.
For the hands-on aspect of the program, we learn something in the classroom, and then that same week in lab we are executing it.
I would recommend the Alfred State vettech program for individuals who are driven and self-starters, for people who are ambitious and who really want to make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners.
The difference between these professors and some professors that I’ve had in the past is night and day. They care so much about what they’re teaching. They want us to do well. They’re always available for extra help if needed, and they really care about their students as individuals.
I definitely think our program is unique in the fact that we have a college farm. So even if your interests lie in small animals, you’re still here working with the large animals too.
My dream job, I think, is just to help animals. Whether I end up in a large animal clinic or a small animal clinic, that’s what I’ll be doing, and I’ll hopefully specialize in the future. I have an interest in animal behavior, but I haven’t completely decided yet.
Alfred State’s Veterinary Technology program is leading me to a career that has been a lifelong dream of mine.

Hi, my name is Samuel Robinson. I grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, and my major is Digital Media and Animation.
My brother graduated from high school and was coming up for college. I wasn’t that passionate about what I was doing in Civil Engineering. My dad put forward the idea for us to maybe go to college together, and I was elated for the idea because I’d get to be with my brother and go to college.
I like the idea of motion. I like creating things. I always liked making videos and little YouTube vide and drawing art, um, so Digital Media was just that hub that encompassed everything. You literally learn so much; a wide field, uh, every single thing in every single medium. So it makes it easy to identify the things you like and put together your own style, and that’s what I really loved about the Digital Media Animation program that I ended up finding my passion in.
I definitely like Alfred State because of the smaller class sizes and the more tiny knitted community. At a bigger college, I did have a small group of friends, um, but here, even though it is a small college, you get to connect with everybody, and everybody’s so friendly. So you end up expanding to have a great network of friends that help you and want the best for you, and everybody helps each other out.
That’s something I really love about Alfred State. And, you know, being a Pioneer here, you know, I’ve really come to love the school. For real!
