Volunteer Opportunities

  • sign with multiple destinations on arrowsAlternative Breaks- Ongoing opportunities to engage in service over fall and spring break. Habitat for Humanity is a major partner in this initiative.
  • Celebrate Alfred, Day of Service - Opportunity to serve our local community in collaboration with the Village of Alfred and Alfred University.
  • Celebrate Service, Celebrate Allegany- Serve alongside community members and students from 3 colleges to meet needs and celebrate community. This event coincides with “Make a Difference Day”- the largest day of service in the nation.
  • Disaster Relief Trips- Serve communities impacted by catastrophic events from Puerto Rico to Houston to New York.
  • Douglass Day - every February 14th we join efforts in transcribing and digitally archiving Black history in honor of Fredrick Douglass during Black History Month. 
  • UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Action and Awareness Week - a week dedicated to advancing awareness and action oriented around the SDG's 
  • Spring Into Action Service Campaign- Celebrating Global Volunteer Month (April) and the spring season with service initiatives lead by various student groups and campus leads. 
  • Earth Day- celebrating April 22nd and National Volunteer Week through events and activities designed to enhance awareness and commitment to environmental sustainability.
  • Global Civic Engagement Teams- Short-term service opportunities include ongoing annual trips to Haiti as well as other locations. Teams have worked with orphanages, supported medical clinics, conducted animal management clinics, and constructed buildings.
  • Relay for Life- A community-wide fundraising event to support cancer research, education, advocacy, and service.
  • Special Olympics- An annual track and field event held on campus for local youth with disabilities.
