Twelve Alfred State students who will be spending spring break in Horry County, SC, building houses as part of Habitat for Humanity's Collegiate Challenge program are raising funds for the trip, including $3,000 for materials and building supplies for the house construction.
Ten freshmen Building Trades students and instructor Jack Jones returned from a week of service in Long Island Feb. 8 where they spent five days helping home owners there prepare to rebuild homes destroyed by Super Storm Sandy last fall.
Alfred State announced today that it will put in place a new, standardized Financial Aid Award Letter from the State University of New York beginning in March.
In all, 28 SUNY Student Senate members, including a member of the SUNY Board of Trustees, traveled from Albany to attend the day-long conference which included campus tours and events planned by the Alfred State Student Senate.

The Alfred State College Council recently honored University Police Officer Mark Woodworth and Lieutenant Scott Bingham for two separate heroic actions they recently took in recent emergency situations.
Dr. William Rezak, former Alfred State President, will talk about his new book, The Arab and the Brit – The Last of the Welcome Immigrants” at the New Horizons Forum on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. in room 107 of the Physical and Health Sciences Building. Alfred State student Kyle Perry, of Frewsburg, a third-year architectural technology student in the Department of Architecture and Design, has earned an honorable mention award and a cash prize of $500 for his outstanding architectural design entry in the 2012 AIAS/Kawneer “Enlightened Libraries” Competition.
The Board of Directors of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., has announced new board members and officers for 2013-14.
