Shortstop Jose Sanchez (Tachira, Venezuela) has been named a NJCAA Division II 1st team All-American. Sanchez is the third Pioneer ever to be named 1st team All-American and the fifth baseball player to be named All-American.
A new era of Alfred State College athletics will begin this fall as the Pioneers will have a brand new on-campus facility that will be the new home for football, soccer, lacrosse, and track & field. Work started on the complex a few weeks back but the grounds were officially broken in a ceremony held on Friday.

Five Alfred State College student-athletes have been awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Scholar Athletes. Nichole Tyler (Spencer Van Etten), Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA), Heather Yaple (Holland Patent), Paul Farrell (Derby), and Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) all were honored.

Alfred State receives $20,000 from BP America to Assist College's Alternative Energy Courses.
Lacrosse players Jeremiah Bova (Salamanca) and Mitch Wensel (Corning East) have added another recognition to their freshmen campaigns. Both Bova and Wensel were named to the All-Western New York Athletic Conference team.
Nichole Tyler (Spencer Van Etten) and Becky Waters (Elmira Heights) have been selected to represent Alfred State on the All-Western New York Athletic Conference team. Tyler was named a 1st team infielder while Waters was named to the 2nd team.
Alfred State softball players Nichole Tyler (Spencer Van Etten) and Becky Simpson (Campbell Savona) have been honored by Region III by being named to the Division III All-Region team. Tyler was a 1st team selection while Simpson made the 2nd team.
Gene Doorley, Alfred State College head volleyball coach, has been named the 2006 NJCAA Region III Division III coach of the year. This honor was voted on by the coaches in Region III.
Freshmen outside hitter Brianne McMahon (Sweet Home) has been named the Region III Division III Player of the Year. McMahon was joined on the All-Region 1st team by teammate Jessica Bonczar (Eden). Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) was a 2nd team selection.
Alfred State College freshmen outside hitter Brianne McMahon (Buffalo/Sweet Home) has earned NJCAA Division III honorable mention All-American honors. McMahon and the Lady Pioneers were ranked as high as #5 nationally and finished as Region III Division III runner-ups after finishing the 2006 season with a 32-3 record.
