Alfred State couldn't overcome seven turnovers (four fumbles & three interceptions) as they fell 31-21 to Globe Institute of Technology in Brooklyn.  ASC is now 2-2 on the year while Globe is 5-1.

Globe got the scoring going in the 1st quarter taking advantage of the Pioneers second fumble.  Alfred State answered back with seven minutes left in the 2nd quarter when Tavon Moore (Syracuse/Bishop Grimes) caught a 24-yard scoring pass from Greg Hampton (Uniondale).

Globe scored with less than two minutes remaining in the half to head into halftime with a 14-7 lead.

The Knights made it a two-possession game when they returned an interception 42-yards for a score just four minutes into the 2nd half.

Desmond Goode (Johnson Mountain, VA) cut the lead to 21-13 when he rushed in from 13-yards out.  The PAT attempt was blocked.

Globe used a long kickoff return on their next possession that led to a 22-yard field goal to take a 24-13 lead.

Kevin Wilkes (Frederick, MD) dove in from one-yard out to get the Pioneers right back in the contest with 1:16 remaining in the 3rd quarter.  Hampton found Devin Simmons (Elmira Free) on the two-point conversion attempt to make it 24-21.

ASC was driving down the field with just over eight minutes left in the game when Globe's Tavon Gatlin intercepted a pass in the end zone and returned it 100 yards for the score.

The Pioneers were driving again late in the 4th quarter but their seventh turnover halted their drive and any comeback hopes.

Goode recorded his second-straight 100-yard rushing game finishing with 112 yards on 19 carries.  Hampton was 11 for 34 for 168 yards passing, Craig Zuzek (Cornwall) made four catches for 75 yards, and Simmons had three catches for 48.

Rory Spain (Tully) led the defense with 13 tackles while Anthony Turner (Syracuse/Corcoran) had eight tackles and a sack.  Robert Howard (Syracuse/Nottingham) had eight tackles and Brett Harrington (Rochester/Edison) finished with five tackles and the Pioneers lone interception.

The Pioneers gained 314 yards on the day while the Knights only had 222.  Globe turned the ball over just once in the contest.

The blue & gold are on the road again next weekend when they travel to Williamsport, PA  on Sunday for a contest with Lycoming College JV.
