Six Pioneers Earn Lax All-WNYAC

Six members of the Alfred State College lacrosse team have been named All-WNYAC.  Ryan Grogan (Churchville), Josh Mateo (Waterloo), and Mitch Mertel (Churchville) were 1st team selections while William Ardolino (William Floyd), Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) and Ryan Speciale (Corning West) were named 2nd team.

Six members of the Alfred State College lacrosse team have been named All-WNYAC.  Ryan Grogan (Churchville), Josh Mateo (Waterloo), and Mitch Mertel (Churchville) were 1st team selections while William Ardolino (William Floyd), Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) and Ryan Speciale (Corning West) were named 2nd team.

Grogan led the blue and gold with 72 points.  He netted 37 goals and passed out a team high 35 assists from his attack position. 

Mateo controlled the midfield, especially the face-off area, for Alfred State.  He finished the year with 43 points on 25 goals and 18 assists. 

Mertel led the defensive end of the field.  He scored three goals and passed out an assist while being assigned to the opponents top offensive threat.

Ardolino netted 24 goals and passed out nine assists during his sophomore season at Alfred State, Micelotta recoreded 21 goals and passed out 20 assists from his attack position, and Speciale was tied for the team lead with 37 goals and passed out 15 assists.

The Pioneers finished the season with a 10-4 mark, were ranked #9 in the last NJCAA poll, and advanced to the Region III tournament for the third time in Coach Todd Weil's four years at the helm of the progam.
