Collin Frazer (Woodbridge, VA) started his big day by returning the opening kick-off 82-yards for his third special teams score of the year. Eleven minutes later, Major Everett (Media, PA) made it 14-0 when he dove in from one-yard out to cap a nine-play 63-yard drive.
Joey Frendo (Fremont, MI) made it 21-0 with 14:06 left in the 1st half when he connected with Sammy Diaz (Dansville) on a 21-yard pass play.
In the 2nd half the Pioneers added to their lead with 7:32 remaining in the 3rd when Frendo connected on a 19-yard pass play to Colton Caldwell (Dublin, OH). Six minutes later, Frazer picked off his second pass of the day and returned it 55-yards to make it 34-0.
The Ogres offense got going in the 4th quarter but could not overcome the large deficit. Onondaga scored touchdowns on three of their four possessions to make the final 34-20.
Frendo finished the day 10 for 22 for 177 yards while Dileel Bartley (Rochester/Edison) finished with 60 yards receiving on three catches and 52 yards rushing on 10 attempts. Diaz and Caldwell finished with 51 yards (3 catches) and 50 yards (2 catches) respectively.
Thomas Daniels (Bronx/ICE) led the defensive attack with 11 tackles and a sack. Michael Gibson (Capital Heights, MD) had six tackles and a fumble recovery while Frazier had five tackles to go with his two interceptions.
The Pioneers won the turnover battle forcing five turnovers (two interceptions and three fumble recoveries) while giving the ball up only twice on interceptions.
Onondaga's strong 4th quarter helped them to a 369 to 276 yard advantage in the contest.
Alfred closes out the 2012 campaign next Saturday when they host Region III foe Hudson Valley CC at Noon. The game will be the last played between the two schools that have met every year since Alfred started football in 1995.
Notes: At halftime, Alfred State head coach Mick Caba was presented with his NJCAA Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame plaque. Caba who has coached 13 years at Alfred and 17 years in the NJCAA is part of the 2012 class that included Terrence Cody (defensive linemen from Mississippi Gulf Coast CC) and the 1983 Coffeyville CC football team.
