Bevington, Draper, and JessupTwo masonry seniors enrolled in
Alfred State College's School of Applied Technology Building Trades/masonry
program were recently awarded the Southern Tier Concrete Products, Inc.,
Achievement Award for Excellence in the trowel trades.  This year's
winners, Shawn Bevington, Akron, and Matthew Draper, Marion, each received $300 checks presented by Charles Jessup, business manager,
Southern Tier Concrete Products, Inc., Alfred.  The company has long been
involved in the masonry program at the college.  Its contributions of
technical support, materials, tools, and training aids as well as scholarships,
are greatly appreciated by the college in helping it produce graduates with the
necessary skills to succeed in the trade.  Bevington has been hired to
work as a mason for Hofer Construction, Buffalo, and Draper will work as a
union mason in the central and Western New York area.
