The Alfred State College softball team swept past Elmira JV, 10-2 and 11-2, in a Friday evening doubleheader.  The Lady Pioneers, 4-0 up North, improve to 5-7 overall on the season.

The Alfred State College softball team swept past Elmira JV, 10-2 and 11-2, in a Friday evening doubleheader.  The Lady Pioneers, 4-0 up North, improve to 5-7 overall on the season.

Amber Harding (Fillmore) led the blue & gold's 17 hit attack in game one with a 4 for 4, 1 RBI day while Stephanie White (Wantagh) was 3 for 3 with a RBI.  Kate Bailey (West Valley) was 3 for 4 while Angie Depew (Wellsville) collected a double and a triple in four at bats.  Tara Scholla (Genesee Valley) and Danielle Hill (Addison) also finished 2 for 4.  Natalie Sylvester (Perry) earned the victory on the mound.

In the nightcap, the Lady Pioneers blasted three homers in the victory.  Depew was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer, Bailey was 2 for 4 with a solo homer, and Sylvester was 1 for 3 with a two-run shot.  White continued her hot hitting with a 2 for 3, 2 RBI day while Hill was 2 for 4 with a RBI.  Pam Rupp (Cattaraugus Little Valley) earned the win on the mound.

The Lady Pioneers play their first home game of the season on Sunday when they host #5 Herkimer CCC.  First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
