The Alfred State College women's basketball team never got going as they fell 64-56 to Broome CC in their 2010 season opener. 

ASC held just one lead, 2-0, in the game and trailed by as many 15 in the contest.  The Lady Pioneers tried to rally and cut the lead to five, 55-50, with just over four minutes left but could never get any closer.

Carriola Chambers (New York/Facing History) led the blue & gold with 12 points off the bench.  Jenna Harrington (Gasport/Royalton Hartland) finished with nine points, nine rebounds, and six steal while Khaylah Moss (Chenango Valley) chipped in seven points and 11 boards.  Ashley Armstrong (Greece Arcadia) also added seven points.

Anne Buchert led BCC with 19 points and seven boards while JamieLynn Drake and Alyssa Ransburg each finished with 12.

ASC shot just 38.5% from the field and was slowed by 29 turnovers.  BCC shot 35.7% from the field but connected on 18 of 26 free throws including 12 of 16 in the second half.

The Lady Pioneer return to action on Thursday when they travel down I-86 to take on Corning CC.  Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
