The Alfred State women's soccer team's 2012 dream season ended as Broome CC used two 1st half goals to defeat the Lady Pioneers 2-1 in the Region III Division III A bracket finals.  The Lady Pioneers finish their season with a 17-2 mark while Broome advances to the NJCAA DIII National Tournament.

The Hornets scored two 1st half goals but the Lady Pioneers pushed the offense in the 2nd half.  They got on the board early in the 2nd half when Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) scored her 31st goal of the season after getting a pass from Taylor Waite (Genesee Valley).

Alfred kept the pressure on the rest of the half but could not find the back of the net for the equalizer.

The loss snaps the Lady Pioneers 17-game winning streak that propelled the team to the #1 ranking in the NJCAA poll and the #1 seed in the Region III Division III Tournament.  Alfred had allowed just four goals during the winning streak (scored 69) and finished the year allowing just nine goals all season.

This is the second time under head coach Anne Holmok's tenure that the Lady Pioneers have advanced to the Regional Final (Broome has been the opponent both times 2008 & 2012).

Muhleisen and Maura Tuffey (Albany/Holy Names) were named to the All-Tournament team.  Emily Icenogle was named the tournament MVP and was joined by teammates Ariel Roys, Danielle Tyrrell, and Amber Villecco on the all-tournament team.

The Hornets have now won 11-straight games and are now 15-3 on the year heading into Nationals.
