American Council of Engineering Companies of NY awards scholarship to ASC student
Daniel C.W. Lang, Bradford, PA, surveying engineering technology, baccalaureate level, has been awarded a $2,500 Western Region Scholarship from American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York).
The award was based on the student's cumulative grade point average, college activities, work experience, and an essay on consulting engineering. He will be honored at an event in Albany on Jan. 27, 2008 at the ACEC New York Winter Conference.
Lang sees surveying engineering technology as a gateway into a diversity of work within a consulting engineering company. He passed the Licensed Surveyor in Training exam given in Pittsburgh last October and plans to take the advanced EIT exam when he graduates. He is also a three-time winner of the Pennsylvania Land Surveyors Foundation Scholarship and has worked in his free hours for a Bradford, PA., surveying firm for the past four years.
In addition to being president of the Alfred State Surveying Club, Lang is also president of the Dormitory Hall Council. Named Alfred State College's male academic athlete of the year 2006-07, he was captain of the soccer team and is a NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American soccer star and a team member of the NJCAA Region III All Region Second Team.
Lang's parents are Charles and April Lang of Bradford, PA.
