Alfred State and Mohawk Valley CC played to a 2-2 draw on day two of the East-West Showdown at Pioener Stadium.   ASC is now 1-0-1 on the young season while MVCC is 3-0-1.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st half.  Ryunosuke Sawairi (Aichi, Japan/Meito) scored in the ninth minute to open the scoring while Tim Randall (Spencerport/Churchville Chili) scored in the 15th minute after getting a nice pass from Derek Southworth (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley).

The Hawks controlled most of the 2nd half offensively and tied the game on the strength of two Armin Budnjo goals.  His first deflected off a Pioneer in front of the net in the 11th minute of the 2nd half and his second sailed in with just over 23 minutes remaining.

Neither team could find the back of the net for the decisive goal in regulation or in either of the two overtime sessions.

MVCC finished with a 19 to 13 shot advantage.  Daniel Krajcir (Gloversville) made 16 saves for ASC while Shane Connelly made nine for the Hawks.

In the earlier contest, Jamestown CC defeated SUNY Delhi 1-0.

Alfred State now has a week off before hosting Jefferson CC on Saturday.  Gametime is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. following the women's contest between the same two schools.
