Key matchup: The Pioneers look to snap a two-game losing streak as they open up their season ending three-game homestand with a contest vs. Southern Virginia University.

The Pioneers have turned the ball over ten times in their last two games.  They will have to hang on to the ball this week.  The Pioneers have turned the ball over 19 times on the season (7 fumbles & 12 interceptions).

The Knights defeated Apprentice School 20-14 earlier in the season, Alfred’s opponent from last week.  There only other victory on the year came early in the season 24-14 over NC Wesleyan.

The Knights offense has struggled on 3rd downs converting just 38 of 113 chances while the team is 6 for 17 on 4th downs.  The team has thrown 15 interceptions on the year and lost six fumbles.

The Pioneers special teams forced a safety on a blocked punt last week and set up another TD with a long kickoff return.  The special teams also had a return for a touchdown that was called back by a penalty.

The Pioneer rushing offense never got started last week vs. Apprentice.  The team did find a new target in the passing game with Mikel Demonte catching seven passes for over 100 yards and a score.
