Alfred State is experiencing a remarkable moment of momentum.
This fall, the college welcomed more than 3,800 students, marking its highest enrollment since 1985. More than 1,500 new students have chosen Alfred State in each of the past two years, while strong retention continues to support sustained growth.
In an increasingly competitive higher education landscape, students and families are choosing Alfred State because of its distinctive combination of applied learning, career-focused programs, personalized support, and outstanding graduate outcomes.
Behind this momentum is another historic achievement: the extraordinary success of the Unleashing Potential Campaign, which has surpassed its ambitious $40 million goal, making it the most successful fundraising campaign in Alfred State history.
The campaign reflects the shared commitment of thousands of alumni, friends, employees, industry partners, and supporters who believe in the transformative power of an Alfred State education. Their generosity is helping remove barriers to success, strengthen academic programs, enhance facilities and technology, and create opportunities that prepare graduates to thrive in their careers and communities.
One of the campaign's most significant impacts has been its investment in student access and affordability. Last year alone, Alfred State awarded more than $6 million in scholarships to students, helping talented, hardworking Pioneers pursue their educational goals while reducing financial burdens on themselves and their families. These scholarship investments play a critical role in recruiting and retaining students and ensuring that an Alfred State education remains within reach for those who can benefit most.
As state appropriations now account for less than 11 percent of the college's operating budget, philanthropic support is increasingly vital to advancing Alfred State's mission. Gifts made through Unleashing Potential help sustain innovative learning environments, provide access to cutting-edge equipment and technology, and support experiences that distinguish Alfred State graduates in the workforce.
The campaign's impact reaches well beyond today's students. Continued investment is helping position the college for future growth through initiatives including expanded programs (truck and diesel, nursing and healthcare, engineering and construction, cybersecurity, criminal justice, electrical construction, and CNC manufacturing), renovations to classrooms and labs, and expanded scholarship opportunities. Together, these priorities address workforce needs, strengthen regional economic development, and create new opportunities for future generations of Pioneer PROS.
