National recognition highlights exceptional student outcomes, career success, and return on education
Alfred State College (ASC) has been named one of America's Best Colleges for 2026-27 by TIME Magazine and Statista, earning recognition in the publication's inaugural national ranking of 500 colleges nationwide.
Alfred State’s inclusion in the ranking is a distinction that reflects the college's commitment to preparing graduates for successful careers through applied learning, industry partnerships, and career-focused academic programs.
"Students come to Alfred State with ambitions for their future, and our responsibility is to help them turn those ambitions into opportunities," said President Steven Mauro. "This recognition highlights the lasting impact of an Alfred State education, from the quality of the student experience to the success our graduates achieve after earning their degrees. We are honored to be recognized among the nation's best colleges."
The ranking evaluates institutions based on student outcomes, learning environment, and student demand, with student outcomes accounting for the majority of each school's score.
Mauro continued, “Our students are taking the lessons they learn in the classrooms and labs and moving right into the workforce. We are so proud that 99% of our graduates are employed or pursuing further education.”
The TIME recognition follows a series of strong national rankings for Alfred State. In the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, the college was ranked No. 3 among Regional Colleges in the North for Best Undergraduate Teaching and No. 17 for Best Value, reflecting Alfred State's commitment to delivering a high-quality education.
Over 3,800 students are currently enrolled at Alfred State, the highest since 1985.
