The Alfred State College automotive department has collaborated with Carquest to remodel the parts room. The remodeled space will add first-hand and real-world applications for all automotive programs.

The parts room will not only serve as a resource for students working in the automotive labs but will double as an option for the entire School of Applied Technology for wiper blades, bulbs, fluids, and much more.

Automotive professor Mike Ronan knows the impact of the partnership with multi storeowner Tony Cimino of Carquest and the updated space. “Adding their expert staff will play an integral part in the continued success of the automotive program hands-on method of instruction. Our focus on real-world application is well known throughout the region. Effective and efficient instruction relies on having repair parts and components readily available, and no one delivers that better than Carquest.”

Curt Burdick, manager of Rocco Automotive (Carquest of Wellsville), is excited to collaborate with Alfred State supplying them with a variety of automotive parts along with heavy-duty parts and paint and body supplies. “With a refreshed parts room, solid inventory and a knowledgeable staff we feel we can help the automotive department along with students and faculty simplify their process and assist in helping to achieve their goals.”

Automotive Trades chair Eric Wilmot is excited for the future. “Carquest has been a loyal partner for a long time. They will now have a presence and the ability to assist ASC faculty in shaping tomorrow’s best technicians.

The automotive department celebrated the opening of the parts room on Monday, March 7.
