Alfred State College recently welcomed 39 new faculty and staff members.

The Division of Business Affairs and Facilities has 11 new hires, including Blake Bates, Dominick Carbone, Keith Conner, James Downey, Adam Evans, Michael Evans, Jason Graves, Robert Marsh, Robert O’Brien, Julia Ormsby, and Timothy Sortore.

Bates is a new cleaner in the Student Leadership Center. He earned an associate degree from Alfred State.

Carbone is now a cleaner in EJ Brown Hall. He holds an associate degree from Alfred State.

Conner was hired as a cleaner in the Orvis Activities Center.

Downey joins the college as a cleaner in the Engineering Technology Building.

Adam Evans is now a cleaner in the Engineering Technology Building.

Michael Evans was hired as a cleaner in the Physical and Health Sciences Building.

Graves is a new cleaner in the Engineering Technology Building.

Marsh is the new environmental health and safety manager. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia Southern University.

O’Brien is now a cleaner in the Student Leadership Center.

Ormsby joins the college as a cleaner in Facilities, Health Center, and the Mail Center.

Sortore is the new director of Business Affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University at Buffalo and a Master of Business Administration in finance, accounting, organizational and competitive strategy from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester.

The Division of Admissions, Student Records and Financial Services has five new hires, including Angela Allen, Joann Bloxsom, Mary Catherine Hyatt, Katlin Meehan, and Jennifer Robinson.

Allen is a new office assistant 1 (keyboarding). She earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in accounting from Alfred State.

Bloxsom joins the college as a student records and financial services specialist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social science and a bachelor’s degree in English, both from Ashford University, and a master’s degree in English from National University. Bloxsom also served in the US Army from 2000 to 2004.

Hyatt is now a student records and financial services specialist. She received an associate degree in liberal arts and sciences: social science from Alfred State and a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure administration from York College of Pennsylvania.

Meehan is a new student records and financial services specialist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Alfred State.

Robinson was hired as an office assistant 1 (keyboarding) in the Admissions Office. She earned a degree in cross cultural missions from NTM Missions Institute and a degree in language & linguistics from NTM Language Institute.

The Division of Academic Affairs has 20 new hires, including Brendan Anderson, Stephen Bauer, Holly Chase, Megan Clark, Sarah DeRosier, Michael Girard, Susan Gorman, Brandon Harrison, Lynn Hayes, Amanda Kelly, Jeonghwan Kim, Isaac Klingensmith, Rebecca Milliner, Frank Nixon, Elizabeth Parker, Keary Rouff, Nicholas Stefanski, Jeffrey Stevens, Joshua Stutts, and Alan Vlakancic.

Anderson was hired as an instructor of machine tool technology at the Northland Workforce Training Center. He holds an Associate in Occupational Studies degree in machine tool technology from Alfred State.

Bauer is a new assistant professor in the Physical and Life Sciences Department. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John Fisher College, and a Master of Science and a PhD from the University of Rochester.

Chase joins the college as an assistant professor in the Business Department. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Alfred University and an MBA from SUNY Oswego.

Clark is now an assistant professor in the Nursing Department.

DeRosier was hired as an assistant professor in the Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Department. She holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in veterinary technology from Alfred State.

Girard is a new programmer-analyst in Technology Services.

Gorman is now an assistant professor and the chair of the Business Department. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration in marketing from Florida Institute of Technology.

Harrison joins the college as an assistant professor in the Business Department.

Hayes is a new math support specialist in the Student Success Center. She received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and a Master of Science in Education in mathematics, both from SUNY Geneseo.

Kelly was hired as an academic success specialist/advisor in the Student Success Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Colorado State University and a Master’s of Education from Iowa State University.

Kim is now an assistant professor in the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology Department. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Gachon University, and both a master’s degree and a doctoral degree from Louisiana State University.

Klingensmith joins the college as an assistant professor in the Physical and Life Sciences Department. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and mathematics from Alfred University and a PhD in marine sciences from Stony Brook University.

Milliner was hired as a baking instructor in the Culinary Arts Department. She earned a degree in culinary arts: baking, production and management and an entrepreneurship certificate, both from Alfred State.

Nixon is a new instructor for welding at the Northland Workforce Training Center.

Parker is now an assistant professor in the Architecture and Design Department.

Rouff joins the college as an assistant professor in the Business Department. He received a bachelor’s degree in sport medicine from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s in leadership studies from Duquesne University, and a doctoral degree in sport management from the United States Sports Academy.

Stefanski was hired as an assistant professor in the English and Humanities Department. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Connecticut.

Stevens is the new dean of the School of Applied Technology. He earned an electrical construction and maintenance electrician degree and a plumbing, heating and air conditioning degree from Alfred State, as well as a bachelor’s in professional business studies from Empire State College.

Stutts is now an assistant professor in the Digital Media and Animation Department. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in media arts and animation from The Art Institute of Atlanta and a Master of Fine Arts in interactive design and game development from Savannah College of Art and Design.

Vlakancic joins the college as an assistant professor in the Architecture and Design Department. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in environmental design from the University at Buffalo and a Master of Science in urban management from Pratt Institute.

The Division of Student Affairs has three new hires, including Gabriel Kuhn, Daniel Roberts, and Justin Signorelli.

Kuhn is the new head men’s soccer and lacrosse coach. He holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Columbia Southern University.

Roberts joins the college as the new coordinator of event management and equipment services. He earned a bachelor’s degree in media studies from the University at Buffalo and a master’s degree in sports administration from Canisius College.

Signorelli was hired as the new head wrestling coach. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from SUNY Cortland and a Master of Science in sport leadership and coaching from Western New England University.
