Travis Harvey (Alfred Almond) led the Alfred State wrestling contingent at the Mt. Union Purple Raider Open on Sunday.  Harvey and the Pioneers were one of 21 teams that competed in the non-scoring event.

Harvey was 2-2 in the 197 lb. weight class.  He earned a 5-4 over Tim Strauss (Lake Erie College) in his opening match.  After falling in his 2nd round match, Harvey pinned Ramsey Hanna (Pittsburgh) in 2:29.  In his next consolation match, Harvey was eliminated by Tyler Landfried (Mercyhurst).

Anthony Carome (Cincinnati, OH) also earned two wins on the day in competition at the 157 lb. weight class.  He won a 2-1 victory over Charles Edwards (Unattached) in his opening round match.  After falling in the next round he won via forfeit over Zach Benedict (Lake Erie College).  In his next match he lost a hard fought 2-0 decision to Chance Smith (West Virginia Tech).

Tyler Aldinger (Alexander) also picked up a win on the day at 149 lbs.  He earned a 9-0 decision over Steve Hurt (West Virginia Tech) in a consolation match.

The Pioneers return to WNYAC action on Wednesday when they travel to Jamestown CC for a 7 p.m. match with the Jayhawks.
