“As a person who has been on his journey for 53 years, I would tell you to enjoy the ride. There are going to be a lot of great times and some hard and sad times. Embrace and learn from those hard times.”

There are going to be a lot of great times and some hard and sad times. Embrace and learn from those hard times.”
He continued, “I used to want to go back and do somethings different in my life, but I have realized this is how my journey is supposed to be. I wouldn’t change anything. Everything I have been through and seen has made me the person that is able to stand in front of you today!”
Barry Mead, an electrical construction and maintenance electrician graduate, was honored with the Paul B. Orvis Award for Excellence. The award honors Paul B. Orvis, a former president of Alfred State and State University of New York executive dean for all two-year colleges. Recipients meet the criteria of service, leadership, character, and scholarship.
