The Alfred State Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Student Chapter recently participated in the 2025 AGC Convention in Columbus, OH.
Dr. Reza Yadollahi, AGC Student President Connor Grohman, and Gideon Holt presented the chapter’s accomplishments, the Construction Management program, and the Civil Engineering Technology department to a national audience. The convention offered a unique chance to highlight our hands-on student projects and activities, exchange ideas with industry leaders, and explore future opportunities in construction.
“Attending a national-level event like the AGC Convention is an incredible opportunity, not just for showcasing our work, but for elevating the overall experience of our program,” commented Yadollahi. “It creates a space where students can connect with peers from other chapters, engage with industry professionals, and gain a broader perspective on where the industry is headed. It is a great mix of learning, networking, and inspiration that helps prepare our students for the real world in a supportive and professional environment.”
Grohman was excited about the opportunity to attend such a large event. “The convention has been the largest networking opportunity our club has had at Alfred State. We were given the chance to meet with leaders and pioneers of the industry who have shared an abundance of know edge and information.”
Grohman continued, “This experience will allow us to better our own AGC chapter, absorbing and building on ideas from other chapters across the country. I was impressed with the advancement in technology, especially the use of AI in schedules and streamlining communication."
