Kelsey earned an associate degree in Heavy Equipment Operations before moving into the Construction Supervision program to earn her bachelor’s degree.

“The possibilities are absolutely endless in the construction field,” Kelsey says. “There are so many different positions you can take, and I found that especially true with construction management. There is always something new to learn.”

One key factor that helped Kelsey succeed in her current role was the estimating class she took during her time at Alfred State. “That class really helped me get prepared for what I do in my job now,” she reflects. “I would not be where I am now without the help and guidance from my professors. They gave me the knowledge I needed to start my career with confidence.”

Kelsey’s path to LeChase began with an internship in between her junior and senior years. “They taught me so much with that opportunity,” she recalls.

After graduation, Kelsey was rehired full-time, diving into the world of commercial construction. “I get to work on a variety of projects from K-12 education to science and technology buildings, multi-housing units, and more. It is a bit of everything, and I get to have a little piece of each.”

One of her favorite aspects of her job is collaborating with subcontractors and trades. “I really like to speak with subcontractors, descope them, and work together with the different trades. I also love reading construction documents, they are always different for every project, and I find that fascinating.”

Kelsey’s strong relationship with her professors at Alfred State played a crucial role in her career development. “My relationship with the teachers really helped me figure out my future. I have always been very career-driven, and they gave me the building blocks I needed. I am forever grateful for that.”
