“The professors here are very supportive. When I was here in school, they were sending me internships after internships that I could apply for. If I were struggling in a class, they would give me resources, whether that be assistant teaching or tutoring lessons. They were always there to help you.”

Meghan Morse credits her education for setting her up for success in the field of veterinary diagnostics. Today, Meghan works as a diagnostic ultrasound technician for SonoPath New Jersey Mobile Veterinary Ultrasound, a position that allows her to combine her passion for animals with continuous learning.
Meghan chose Alfred State because of how ranked the Vet Tech program was. “It looked like a very good program that was going to set me up for success in the field.”
Her time at Alfred State proved to be just that, providing not only a strong academic foundation but also valuable real-world opportunities.
“The professors here are very supportive,” she reflects. “When I was here in school, they were sending me internships after internships that I could apply for. If I were struggling in a class, they would give me resources, whether that be assistant teaching or tutoring lessons. They were always there to help you.”
Meghan started as a veterinary technician at an equine referral hospital before focusing her career on the science of ultrasound. “I did not like being in a hospital every day doing the same thing. I like doing something different and continuing my education, which is what Sonopath allows me to do,”
Meghan’s work as a diagnostic ultrasound technician is ever-changing and fulfilling. “The best part of my job is getting to drive around all day and see lots of different things,” she shares. “I get to scan all kinds of animals, and you never really see the same thing twice.”
Meghan returned to campus to talk to current students. “I wanted to share my experiences. I went from thinking I would specialize in one area and ended up in a completely different niche, and I want students to know that it is okay to pivot and encourage them to continue learning.”
As an advocate for lifelong education, Meghan encourages students to pursue what they genuinely enjoy. “Alfred State grads are the best in the vet tech world, and I want them to keep learning and growing in their careers,” she says. “That’s what will make them stand out and succeed.”
Alfred State helped Meghan scan all her options and gave her the tools for success.
