Pioneer PROfiles - Hailee Drake

Hailee Drake (Wellsville, NY) has been able to find the right combination at Alfred State. She dreams of designing sets for movies one day and thinks her degree in interior design and her most recent degree in Technology Management will help her achieve those dreams.

Hailee followed family members to Alfred State. “My mom came to Alfred State for nursing. It is close to home, and I love how beautiful it is. You can go hiking on the trails and there are events every day of the week.” 

The price of her education was right. “Alfred State was more in my price range. It was probably the only college that I looked at that had my program and was definitely cheaper.” 

She earned her associate degree in interior design before moving on to a bachelor’s degree in technology management. “I love that even though it is business it is so hands-on. Last semester I worked with an actual business in Hornell. They wanted to revitalize their business and we were able to help them with that.” 

Learning a wide range of business topics has appealed to Hailee. “We learn all about human resource management, business law, and business ethics. We are required to do an internship. I have worked in the admissions office, and it has helped with my growth in business settings. I am more prepared when I get my real job.” 

Hailee has taken some of her business lessons and applied it to her leadership roles within her sorority, Zeta Psi Omega, and the admissions office. “I have taken on more responsibilities and have to direct people and delegate tasks.” 

Outside the classroom, Hailee has enjoyed taking advantage of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. “I love camping and enjoy going on little trips. I have gone white water rafting, hiking, and kayaking. It was just super fun to get off campus and enjoy.” 

Alfred State has helped Hailee find her passion and she cannot wait to get out in the business world.
