New Vice President for Academic Affairs Carrie Cokely has been visiting classrooms around both the Alfred and Wellsville campuses.

At a glance

Dr. Carrie Cokley has attended a wide variety of classes ranging from automotive, botany, estimating, HVAC, and nutrition during her first semester on campus.

Alfred State Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Carrie Cokely started at the college this summer. In an effort to fully immerse herself into the hands-on education taught at the college she has been joining classes on both the Alfred and Wellsville campus.

She has attended a wide variety of classes ranging from automotive, botany, estimating, HVAC, motorsports, and nutrition.

Vice President for Enrollment Management Kishan Zuber has joined Cokely for some of the classes as well. Each visit to the classroom was documented with pictures and video for the series "Class with Carrie."

Cokely, an Elmira native, is returned back to her New York roots when joining Alfred State. She earned a B.A. in sociology at Russell Sage College in Troy, then an M.A. and Ph.D. also in sociology at Syracuse University. 

Cokely’s professional career started at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC as an assistant professor and she has earned multiple promotions over fifteen years of service at Curry College, a private liberal arts school seven miles from downtown Boston, where she served as associate provost.
