Alfred State applauds Orvis Award winners and dean’s list students

Alfred State College congratulates its students who were recently named Orvis Award recipients, as well as those who were named to the dean’s list for spring 2021.

Alfred State College congratulates its students who were recently named Orvis Award recipients, as well as those who were named to the dean’s list for spring 2021.

To achieve dean’s list status, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours for the semester and earned a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0. For the most recent semester, the dean’s list includes 923 students. In addition, 290 of these students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Additionally, five graduating Alfred State students earned the Orvis Award for Excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, and character. This award honors Paul B. Orvis, a former president of Alfred State, and State University of New York dean for two-year colleges.

The following is a list of 2021 Orvis Award winners:

  • Ashley Herbert, Rochester – architectural technology (AAS)
  • Trevor Sax, Geneva – mechanical engineering technology (BS)
  • Sarah Lovell, Newark – veterinary technology (AAS)
  • Ruth Crowley, Penfield – forensic science technology (BS)
  • Larry Knoll, Darien Center – automotive service technician (AOS)

The college congratulates all of the students who earned dean’s list and Orvis Award honors. These students’ hometown newspapers receive information regarding honorees, including details for each student earning a perfect 4.0 GPA.
