Kurt Zeltwanger, a 2017 Alfred State nursing graduate, was recently honored with the 2020 DAISY Award.

Established in 1999 and sponsored by the DAISY Foundation, the DAISY Award recognizes the superhuman work of nurses in over 4,500 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing in all 50 states and 29 countries. The DAISY Foundation was created by the Barnes family in memory of their son, Patrick, who was cared for by an amazing nursing team during his battle with a fatal auto-immune disease. The DAISY Award honors the extraordinary work of nurses with nominations from patients, family members, other nurses, physicians, other clinicians, and staff. The honoree is selected by a committee of clinical leaders within the organization.

Zeltwanger is a registered nurse in the Medical-Surgical Unit at St. James Hospital in Hornell.
