Alfred State College (ASC) junior Brandon Bozard (Hamburg/Frontier) proved he was strong as an ox at a recent United States Powerlifting Association meet. Bozard set a new national junior record at the USPA Drug Tested Albany Open.
Bozard, a cyber security major at ASC, broke the national junior record (18-19-year-olds) with a bench press of 320.8 lbs. His record-breaking performance for the 168-181 lb. weight class was 1.1 lbs. more than the previous record of 319.7.
Bozard and his grandfather, Greg Goodrich, had to be creative and made their own bench press set during the COVID-19 quarantine to continue to prepare for the record-breaking attempt.
