The Alfred State College wrestling team has earned numerous awards following a successful season that saw the team finish 27th overall (8th in the Division III standings) at the NJCAA National Championships last weekend.

The Alfred State College wrestling team has earned numerous awards following a successful season that saw the team finish 27th overall (8th in the Division III standings) at the NJCAA National Championships last weekend.

Jamie Luckett (St. Charles, MO) earned NJCAA 2nd team All-American honors, 1st team All-Region honors, and 1st team All-WNYAC following a 26-2 season.  Luckett finished 2nd in the 197 lb. bracket at Nationals after defending his Northeast District title.

This is the second year in a row that Luckett earned all three honors.  Last season he was a 3rd team All-American selecion.

Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA), Michael Dougherty (Oxford Academy), Chris Marks (Barkhamsted, CT), and Jordan Hughson (Holley) all earned 2nd team All-Region and 2nd team All-WNYAC honors.  Longenecker (125) finished the year 26-8, Dougherty (149) was 8-15, Marks (157) was 12-11, and Hughson was 13-14.  Each wrestler earned 2nd team honors by finishing as Northeast District runner-up in their weight class.

Zach Conodorio (LeRoy), Devin Hennessey (Bridgewater-Raynham), and Rob Roth (Castleton) all earned 3rd team All-Region and 3rd team All-WNYAC honors.  Conodorio finished the year 9-11 at 141 lbs., Hennessey was 15-8 at 133 lbs., and Roth was 2-4 at 174 lbs.

The Pioneers finished the regular season with a 6-3 record in dual meets and for the second year in a row they were WNYAC runner-ups and Northeast District runner-ups.
