Onondaga CC took advantage of 13 walks and nine errors in a Region III Division III sweep at Alfred State on Tuesday. The Lazers won the opener 13-1 and the nightcap 6-1 in games that featured snow flurries, high winds, and cold temperatures.

Onondaga CC took advantage of 13 walks and nine errors in a Region III Division III sweep at Alfred State on Tuesday.  The Lazers won the opener 13-1 and the nightcap 6-1 in games that featured snow flurries, high winds, and cold temperatures.

OCC scored in each of the five innings of the first game.  They plated three in the 1st and 4th innings and put the game out of reach with five in the 5th inning.  The Pioneers were held to just two hits with Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton) finishing 1 for 2 with the team's lone RBI.

In the nightcap, all seven of the Lazers were unearned.  OCC scored four of those unearned runs in the 4th inning to break open a 1-0 contest.  Wheaton finished the contest 2 for 3 while Mitch Smith (Rochester/Greece Arcadia) drove in the lone run with a RBI ground out in the 4th.  Ruben Mizrahi (Weston, FL) tossed a complete game five-hitter but took the loss.

The Pioneers (3-18, 2-9 Region III Division III) continue their four game set with the Lazers on Thursday.  First pitch in Syracuse is slated for 2 p.m.
