Volleyball Sophomores & Dillard Named Athletes of the Week

Sophomore volleyball players Brianne McMahon (Buffalo/Sweet Home), Elaina Braun (Waterloo), Shannon Jablonski (Cheektowaga), and Natalie Gregory (Iroquois) and men's basketball player Jimmie Dillard (Gates Chili) haVB Regional Champions - Sophomore Classve been named Alfred State College athletes of the week.

The sophomore quartet led the Lady Pioneers to the school's first volleyball Regional Championship in 30 years over the weekend.  The quartet has accumulated a 35-4 record this season and a 67-7 career record.

McMahon finished the five games of the tournament with 74 kills, 74 digs, and eight aces.  Braun finished with 196 assists, 52 digs, and 19 kills.  Jablonski picked up 101 digs, 46 kills, and 20 aces.  Gregory registered 51 digs, 24 kills, and 10 blocks.

ASC will travel to Rochester, MN to compete in the NJCAA National Championship November 16-17.

Jimmie DillardDillard helped the men's basketball team to a 2-0 start with victories over Rockland CC and Delaware Tech.  Versus RCC, he led the team with 22 points, five rebounds, and three steals.  Versus Del Tech he chipped in 16 points and four boards.

Dillard and his teammates have a busy week ahead as they travel to Broome CC today before hosting Corning CC (Thursday) and Lakeland (OH) CC (Sunday) at the Orvis Activities Center
