The Alfred State volleyball team is ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division III poll to remain in the Top 10 where they have been all season.  The Lady Pioneers slipped one spot from last week's ranking of sixth.

The Alfred State volleyball team is ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division III poll to remain in the Top 10 where they have been all season.  The Lady Pioneers slipped one spot from last week's ranking of sixth.

The Lady Pioneers defeated Genesee CC and Erie CC as well as took first place at the Corning CC Red Baron Invitational.  Alfred State defeated Genesee CC 3-0 on Thursday.  On Saturday the Lady Pioneers beat Tompkins Cortland CC 2-0 and Adirondack CC 2-0 before losing to Monroe CC 2-1 in pool play.  In the semifinals, Alfred State beat Corning CC 2-0 and moved on to face Monroe CC again, this time beating them 2-0.  The Lady Pioneers finished off the week by defeating Erie CC 3-0 on Tuesday.

Alfred State is led by Jenni Jerome (Westhill) with 3.4 kills per game and 39 service aces.  Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) has 3.6 kills per game while Breanna Horton (Owego Free Academy)has 9.6 assists per game and 46 service aces. 

The Lady Pioneers next head to Erie, PA for the WNYAC Tournament where they will face the winner of the fourth and fifth place teams at 1 pm.
