Alfred State College sophomore Nichole Tyler (Spencer Van Etten) has been named 3rd team NJCAA Division II All-American.  Tyler becomes the first player under head coach Gina Boyd to be named a NJCAA All-American.

Alfred State College sophomore Nichole Tyler (Spencer Van Etten) has been named 3rd team NJCAA Division II All-American.  Tyler becomes the first player under head coach Gina Boyd to be named a NJCAA All-American.

This season Tyler averaged 15.3 points per game and 10.3 rebounds for the 19-10 Lady Pioneers.  She recorded 15 double-doubles on the season.  She also finished the year with 81 assists and 76 steals.  Her 444 points is 7th all-time in ASC women's basketball single season history while her 298 rebounds places her 3rd all-time in a single season.

She scored in double-figures in 25 of the Lady Pioneers 29 games.  She scored more than 20 points nine times.  She grabbed more than 10 rebounds in 17 games.  Her best statistical game came in the team's opener when she scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds versus Orange CC.

Prior to being honored by the NJCAA, Tyler was named MVP of the ASC Tournament and All-Region III Division II 1st team.

This follows a freshmen season that saw Tyler score 472 points (4th all time highest in a single season) and grab 247 rebounds (14th all-time highest in a single season).  She was named All-Region III Division II 2nd team and All-WNYAC honorable mention following the campaign along with being named the Alfred State College freshmen female athlete of the year.

Tyler leaves the Alfred State basketball program as the programs leading scorer.  Her 916 points in 99 more than previous record holder Janet Kisner (1988-1990).

Presently, Tyler is the starting shortstop on the #3 ranked Lady Pioneers softball team.  She leads the team with a .452 batting average.

Tyler is the 8th Alfred State College athlete this school year to earn All-American honors.
