Toyodome and Jerome Sign Letter of Intents

Alfred State College volleyball players Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) and Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) have signed letter of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the four-year level.  Toyodome will be attending Davenport University (Grand Rapids, MI) and Jerome will be attending Glenville State (Glenville, WV).

Toyodome & Jerome Signing DayAlfred State College volleyball players Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) and Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) have signed letter of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the four-year level.  Toyodome will be attending Davenport University (Grand Rapids, MI) and Jerome will be attending Glenville State (Glenville, WV).

Toyodome had a well decorated sophomore season at Alfred State.  She was named a first team All-American by Division III of the NJCAA and a 1st team All-American by the AVCA.  Prior to those honors she was named the Region III Division III Player of the Year, 1st team All-Region, 1st team All-WNYAC, and All-Tournament team at both the Region III Championship and the National Championships. 

Toyodome and Coach Doorley on Signing DayToyodome finished the 2008 season with a team high 400 kills (3.7 kills per game) and a team high .490 hitting percentage.  She also collected 307 digs, 60 blocks, and 41 service aces.  This season she recorded eight double-doubles (kills and digs) and finished 16 matches with over 10 kills.

For her career (2006 & 2008) she finishes with 652 kills, 527 assists, 460 digs, 140 blocks, and 81 aces.  During her two years of play the Lady Pioneers racked up a 70-7 record.

She joins a Davenport University team that finished 2008 with a 15-26 record under coach Rick Rylase.  The Panthers play in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference of the NAIA.

Jerome and Coach Doorley on Signing DayJerome capped off a solid two year career in which the Lady Pioneers were 74-10 and won back-to-back Region III Championships.  Her honors this season include being named honorable mention All-American, 1st team All-Region, 1st team All-WNYAC, and preseason All-American.  Jerome was also recently named the ASC senior athlete of the year after receiving the freshman athlete of the year in 2008. 

This season Jerome finished with 378 kills (3.4 per game) and a .249 hitting percentage.  She chipped in 364 digs, 46 service aces and 21 blocks.  She recorded more than 10 kills in a match 14 times and more than 10 digs in a match 15 times.  In seven matches she finished with a double-double.

For her career (2007 & 2008), Jerome finishes with 686 kills, 690 digs, 82 service aces, and 79 blocks.

Jerome joins Glenville State who is coming off a 14-16 season in 2008 under head coach Patrick Maiden.  The Pioneers competed in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
