Strong 2nd Half Lifts Delhi over Pioneers

The SUNY Delhi men's basketball team used a strong 2nd half to open up a close game en route to a 58-46 victory over Alfred State on Sunday afternoon.  #2 ranked Delhi improves to 10-0 on the year while the Pioneers are now 4-5.

The SUNY Delhi men's basketball team used a strong 2nd half to open up a close game en route to a 58-46 victory over Alfred State on Sunday afternoon.  #2 ranked Delhi improves to 10-0 on the year while the Pioneers are now 4-5.

Delhi led by just three, 25-22, at half but outscored the Pioneers 33 to 24 in the 2nd to take control of the contest.  Key to the surge in the 2nd half was Ibrahima Toure who scored 16 of his 20 points in the final 20 minutes.  He finished the day leading the Broncos with 20 points and 13 rebounds.  Tyrese Campbell added eight points as Delhi scored 34 of their 58 points off the bench.

Jamar White (Laurel, MD) led the Pioneers with 12 points while Marquis Chatman (Allen, TX) added eight.  Quameek Daniels (Brooklyn/HS of Sports Management) and Christian Santana (Harlem Village Academy) each had eight points off the bench while Donnie Stevenson (Red Creek) had seven points and seven boards.

Alfred shot 31.6% from the field, turned the ball over 20 times and was outrebounded 37 to 31.

The blue & gold wrap up the 2012 portion of their season next Sunday when they travel to St. John Fisher for a 1 p.m. contest vs. the JV Cardinals.
