Alfred State College pitcher Matt Stewart (Hornell) has decided to continue his athletic and academic career at St. Bonaventure University.

Stewart finished the 2007 spring season with an 8-2 record and a 3.86 ERA.  He tossed 63 innings, struck out 36, and held opponents to a .254 batting average.  He led the pitching staff in wins, starts, and complete games.

Following the season he was named 1st team All-Region after being named All-WNYAC following the fall season.

For his career, Stewart was 18-3 with a 4.04 ERA in 26 appearances.  He made 23 starts and threw 12 complete games in 147 innings of work.  He struck out 95 and held opponents to a .261 batting average.  His 18 wins ties him for the most in program history and his .857 winning percentage is 4th best. 

Stewart joins a Bonaventure team that is currently 21-21 on the year.  The Bonas roster currently features former Pioneer Josh Perkins as the team's starting shortstop.
